To Suffer Boundless Ambition
Baron Djanko Scourge
can you smell what the Baron is cooking?
Still a bit of a mystery to the crew of the Scion of the Void, it is known that the Baron is following closely in his great-great-grandfather’s footsteps, large boots to fill that they are. Lord-General Khako “the Scourge” razed a dozen worlds in the Jade Reach Suppression in a decade long campaign. His latest descendant is looking to make grandpoppa Khako proud, some say as a shiver caresses their spines.
Taking an opportunity to take their competition down a peg, Djanko Scourge sent some of the deadliest members of his retinue to attack Scion’s meanest members. Nearly sniped by an unseen assailant, Hobbes was saved from the cold grip of death by the God-Emperor’s grace, as well as a trusty shield. As Halix and Lee sent their retinue forth to take the sniper down, Explorator Zarathustra determined the trajectory of the incoming fire and incapacitated the enemy, Scourge’s Major Domo, “Poise” Elisabet. As Elisabet’s plan to carefully eradicate the other Rogues failed, her commanded bodyguard, an Ork freebooter in the employ of the Baron, took her to safety on his warbike, ripping through the forest.
Facing Captain Halix and his companions in front of the misty tower that was the source of desire for those gathered, Scourge proclaimed the imminent downfall of the men and women collected before his very eyes. Halix called him out, demanding the Baron prove his strength in a battle with swords, a battle of honor. Being a man of blood and rage, the Baron’s appetite was begging to cut into Halix’s smug face and foolishly accepted. It didn’t last long. Scourge might have all the niceties of an untamed beast, and ferocity to match, not to mention stench, but he lacked the discipline and foresight necessary to keep himself unharmed. When he was cut down by Captain Halix, Baron Scourge’s hired muscle and determined crew opened fire upon the enemy, forcing them to duck in cover from the dangerous chorus of bullets and flame as they dragged their brutish Captain to safety.
Leaving a small goodbye for his rival Rogue Trader, the Baron choked out a last command before he slipped into an existence of darkness and solitude: make them pay for this atrocity; give them hell fire; be sure they remember my name and what is done to those who defy my wishes. His crew left behind three well armed skimmers in the misty base of the looming tower, determined to send the crew of the Scion and Nihontu to a bloody end…
